Free to start Β· Mildly life-ruining
You're about to get
addicted to birds.
You're not a βbird person.β Good. Nobody who's hooked on this was either.
Other bird apps exist. They're brilliant if you already own binoculars and an anorak. This one's for everyone else. No Latin names, no migration charts to learn, just get outside, notice what's actually around you, and pick up the one daft fact that makes each bird brilliant. Quietly mindful when you want it, a wind-up for the group chat when you don't. You'll scroll less, look up more, and learn things by accident. Your mates will hate it. Until they try it.
Everyone's quietly collecting. Real stats, real bragging rights, a streak that drags you outside. The only question is how late you are.

God-tier robin β locked
See the same species on 20 separate days and this is what you unlock. Not a cheat. An achievement.
Every bird starts Basic. The God tier is earned β same species, 20 different days. Stats never change. The flex is real.
Most games keep you scrolling
This one sends you outside
You can't spot birds while doomscrolling. They're outside, which means you are too. Five minutes in the garden counts. A lunch break in the park counts. A slow Sunday walk counts. This isn't a mindfulness app β but people do report going outside more often once they start.
β
7:42am Β· Back garden
Blue tit on the feeder
Snap it. It's now a card. Back inside with a new Advanced blue tit and a mild sense of superiority over everyone still asleep.
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦
Sunday afternoon Β· Country walk with the kids
Buzzard overhead. "What's that?" from the seven-year-old.
Everyone IDs it. Everyone gets the card. Seven-year-old immediately challenges you to a battle. Buzzard vs your sparrow. Embarrassing result.
πΏ
12:45pm Β· Park bench, lunch break
Goldfinch on a thistle, ten feet away, unbothered
Snap it. Advanced goldfinch. Six minutes outside. Legitimately better afternoon. Can't explain why. Don't try.
There's something in slowing down enough to notice a bird. You can't rush it. The app just gives you a reason to try.
The facts are the game
Birds are genuinely unhinged
Other apps show you the bird. We give you the numbers β and the numbers are absurd. This is why you can't stop talking about it at the pub.
Bar-tailed Godwit
13,000 km
Non-stop. No food. No sleep. No land. The longest unbroken migration of any animal alive. Your Basic card knows this. Your God card has receipts.
Swift
Sleeps in flight
At 10,000 feet. They land twice a year: to breed. That's it. Your garden is irrelevant to a swift. Earning one in your collection is a mild flex.
Robin
Tiny murderer
Defends 0.3 hectares to the death. That cheerful garden visitor has killed rivals. God-tier robins unlock the documented violence. You have been warned.
Peregrine
389 km/h
The fastest animal ever recorded. Dives at planes. Eats pigeons mid-air. Winning a battle against a Peregrine with your robin is genuinely impressive.
All stats are real, sourced, and fixed. Winning a battle doesn't change them. Paying money doesn't either.
Better with people
Play together. Fight about it after.
Family walks. Sunday afternoons. Group chats. Pub arguments. It's a stat-card battler β but everyone's collection is the birds they've personally seen. No two collections are the same, which means no two battles go the same way.
π¨βπ©βπ§
Walk with the kids
"What's that?" is now a game action. Kids build their own collection. They will beat you at some point. It will be a big day for them.
π΄π΅
Battle the grandparents
Grandma's been feeding birds for 40 years. Her God-tier robin didn't happen by accident. You have been warned.
π¨
Challenge mates
Send a blind stat-card challenge. They pick their bird without knowing your stat. The reveal is a moment. They send one back. It escalates.
How it works
1
See a bird. Any bird.
Garden, park, walk, train window, pub garden. If it's a real bird you actually saw with your own eyes, it counts. No gear required.
2
Snap a photo
The bird bot reads your photo and works out the species. No expertise needed. Doesn't know it? You pick from a shortlist β the sighting still counts.
3
Get the real stat card
It becomes a genuine stat card β actual wingspan, real migration distance, documented max lifespan, and a wildcard fact that'll make you insufferable at dinner.
4
Evolve it. Battle anyone.
Spot the same bird on separate days and the card evolves. Each stage unlocks a darker fact. Then battle mates, family, strangers. Highest stat wins.
π§
You will accidentally become an expert
Not through lessons. Not through studying. Through wanting to win battles. You'll know the wingspan of a mute swan. You'll know why a peregrine is embarrassing every other bird on speed. You'll look at a goldfinch differently. This happens to everyone. It's not a problem.
πΏ
The original slow scroll
There's something in standing still long enough for a bird to stop caring you're there. In actually looking. In the garden getting quieter. This isn't a wellness pitch β we just make a bird game. But the bird game is outside. And outside is apparently where the thing is.
Everything in the app
Birdle is free and always will be. Members unlock the full game.
π§©Birdle Β· Free, always
Guess the mystery bird from a silhouette, habitat clues, family, and stats. New bird every day, same one for everyone. Share the result grid, nurse the streak. Five minutes. Addictive.
βοΈBirdle Match Β· MembersMembers
Four birds. Four stats. Match them correctly. One puzzle per day. One wrong tap and it counts. No hints. Harder than it looks. Much harder.
π§¬Evolution through sightings
Spot a bird on 5 different days: Advanced. 10 days: Legendary. 20 days: God. Each stage upgrades the card art and unlocks a new, progressively unhinged fact. The stats never change β just the lore.
πStat-card battles
Pick a bird. Pick a stat. Send a blind challenge β your mate picks their bird without knowing the stat. The reveal is half the fun. Only birds you've personally seen can be fielded.
π·AI photo ID
Upload a shot and the AI names it. Free users get 2 IDs per day, members up to 20. The ID fuels the collection β not just a search tool.
π₯Streaks and the robin mascot
Log a sighting every day and the streak climbs. The robin keeps count, and he is not easily impressed.
πWhere you spotted it
Every card carries where it was caught. 'Spotted in Yorkshire' under a God-tier robin hits different than a nameless list. It's your collection, not ours.
βοΈNickname your cards
Gary the Destroyer is a robin. Margaret is a swan. The names stick to the card, appear in battle, and make your Wrapped something worth sharing.
πΈPin your best shot as the card faceMembers
Got a genuinely good photo? Pin it as your card's face. Your red kite. Your osprey. Your blurry but surprisingly moving great tit. It counts.
πͺΆBirder WrappedMembers
Your year in birds. Rarest catch, most-spotted species, evolution milestones, battles won, biggest stat card. Shareable.

A game that gives a damn
No adverts. No tracking. No data sold. Funded entirely by members who want to play a real game with real birds. We care about the birds beyond the game, so for now we send people to the charities already doing the work. Once we're big enough to give back properly, we will.
π« No adverts. Ever.π΅ No data sold. Ever.π No pay-to-win. Ever.
The other apps are homework.
This is the fun bit.
Merlin and eBird are brilliant β tools built for people who already love birds. We're for everyone else: the ones who want it to be a laugh, a competition, a thing in the group chat. That's the moat β you can bolt a game onto a spreadsheet, but you can't bolt on a personality. They won't text you at 7am because your streak's on the line, or let you humiliate your brother-in-law with a godwit on Boxing Day.
Merlin / eBird
Brilliant for ID and listing. Zero personality. Your life list just sits there, unjudged, not bothering anyone.
PokΓ©mon GO
Brilliant game. The creatures aren't real though. No godwit is flying 13,000km for a lure module. And you can't battle Dave with a Pidgey.
Nature journalling apps
Lovely. Calming. Very analogue. About as competitive as a guided walk. Nobody ends up in a league.
This
Real birds with real stats in a real game. You learn which birds are quietly terrifying. You go outside more. You send challenges to people who don't expect it. It escalates.
